I am Pastor David Green.  My wife Francey and I were appointed to Plains UMC in July, 2021.  A bit of background on myself.  I was born in Southern WV, my family moved when I was 5 or 6 years old to a town outside Chicago, Ill.  I was not raised in Church as a child.  I came to know the Lord in my late teens during the “Jesus Movement” in the early 70’s.  After serving the Lord for 10 years, I then backslid and ran from the Lord.  My wife Francey and I came back to the Lord in the early 90’s.  I served as a Music Director in a Southern Baptist Church and Worship Leader at Sawgrass Chapel (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) until we moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Pensacola, North Carolina.  It was in Pensacola, NC where we attended and served Pensacola UMC.  We were very active and served in several leadership roles.  It was there, one of my Pastors gently encouraged me to go into the ministry.  I knew God had a calling on my life, it was at Pensacola UMC that I finally surrendered to the ministry.  I felt however the need to obtain my degree and applied to Moody Bible Institute.  It took me 6 years and a lot of late nights to complete my degree in Biblical Studies.  I graduated from Moody with Highest Honors.  It was during that time, that I learned that my great grandfather had been a Methodist Circuit Rider from Trade TN to the Sugar Mountain area of NC.   I feel the Lord answered Great Grandfathers prayers by brining me full circle!  I am honored to serve the folks at Plains UMC.  My passion is preaching Gods Word with Holy Boldness.  My prayer is that all will come to have a closer and deeper walk with the Lord!
